IRCTC Refund Rules on Reservation Failed Transaction

If amount getting debited from customer account and ticket not issued

Refund Amount = Ticket fare + IRCTC Service Charges
Note: bank/card transaction charges are likely to be deducted.

IRCTC Refund Rules on cancellation

  1. IRCTC Refund Rules for Confirmed Tickets Cancellation

    The amount deducted is based on the time of cancellation and the status of your ticket

    1. Cancellation More than 48 Hr before Train's schedule Time
    2. A minimum per passenger cancellation charges shall be deducted at the flat rate
      AC First/Executive Class = Rs.240
      First Class/AC 2 Tier = Rs.200
      AC Chair Car/AC 3Tier/AC 3 Economy = Rs.180
      Sleeper Class = Rs.120
      Second Class = Rs.60

    3. Cancellation between 12 Hr to 48 Hr before Train's schedule Time
    4. 25% of fare subject the minimum of the cancellation charges in point A

    5. Cancellation between 4 Hr to 12 Hr before Train's schedule Time
    6. 50% of fare subject the minimum of the cancellation charges in point A

  2. IRCTC Refund Rules for RAC or Waitlisted Tickets Cancellation

    The amount deducted is based on the time of cancellation and below conditions

    1. If ticket cancelled more than 30min before Train's schedule departure

      Refund = Train Fare - Clerkage Charges(60 Rs)

    2. If ticket cancelled less than 30min before Train's schedule departure

      No Refund Provided

    3. If ticket got confirmed at the time of cancellation

      Refund calculated after deducting Cancelation Charges of Confirmed Ticket

  3. IRCTC Refund Rules for TATKAL Tickets Cancellation

    The amount deducted is based on the time of cancellation and below conditions -

    1. For Confirmed Tatkal Tickets Cancellation

      No Refund Of Fare Shall Be Admissible

    2. RAC or Waitlisted Tatkal Tickets Cancellation

      Refund Calculated same as for RAC or Waitlisted Tickets Cancellation

    3. Cancellation of Tatkal Ticket having some Confirmed and some Waiting-List Passangers

      For both Waiting-List and Confirmed Passangers Refund Calculated as below
      Refund = Train Ticket Fare - Clerkage Charge(60 Rs)

      Note: Entire tatkal ticket Should be Surrendered for Cancellation upto upto 30 Min before train's scheduled departure and if Waiting-list/RAC ticket got confirmed Then No Refund shall be Admissible for Confirmed Passengers

  4. IRCTC Refund Rules for Premium Special Trains Ticket Cancellation

    The amount deducted is based on the below conditions -

    1. For CNF/RAC ticket Cancellation booked in Premium Special Trains

      Cancellation of CNF/RAC ticket booked in Premium Special Trains is not allowed. However, ticket can be cancelled only if the train is cancelled. Refund will be granted by PRS system as per extant Railway Refund Rules.

  5. IRCTC Refund Rules for Partially Confirmed Tickets Cancellation

    The amount deducted is based on the time of cancellation and below conditions -

    1. Cancellation of Partially Confirmed Tickets having some Confirmed and some Waiting-List Passangers

      For both Waiting-List and Confirmed Passangers Refund Calculated as below
      Refund = Train Ticket Fare - Clerkage Charge(60 Rs)

      Note: Entire ticket Should be Cancelled Online and online TDR shall be filed for all the passengers upto 30 Min before train's scheduled departure and if Waiting-list/RAC ticket got confirmed Then No Refund shall be Admissible for Confirmed Passengers

  6. IRCTC Refund Rules for Full Wait list Ticket Cancellation

    The amount deducted is based on the time of cancellation and below conditions -

    1. Cancellation of Full Waiting-List e-Ticket where All Passengers are in Waiting-List even after Chart Prepration

      Refund = Train Ticket Fare - Clerkage Charge(60 Rs)

      Note: Refund of fare shall be automatically credited to the account from which booking transaction took place

    2. Cancellation of Full Waiting-List i-Ticket where All Passengers are in Waiting-List even after Chart Prepration

      Refund = Train Ticket Fare - Clerkage Charge(60 Rs)

      Note: i-Tickets can be cancelled at the computerised Passenger Reservation System(PRS) counter upto 30 Mins before Train's Scheduled Departure

  7. IRCTC Refund Rules when Cancellation of Train

    The amount deducted is based on the time of cancellation and below conditions -

    1. Refund for e-tickets

      Refund = Full Train Ticket Fare

      Note: Automatic full refund of fare on confirmed or RAC e-tickets shall be directly credited to the account from which booking transaction took place and online cancellation or filing of TDR shall not be required in such case.

    2. Refund for i-tickets

      Refund = Full Train Ticket Fare

      Note: The i-ticket can be cancelled upto 72 hrs after the scheduled departure of train at any Computerized Reservation Counter

    3. Refund when Train Diverted from Boarding Station

      Refund = Full Train Ticket Fare

      Note: TDR shall be filed upto 72 Hrs of schedule departure of the train at passengers boarding station
